The grant objectives are to demonstrate how coordinated management of EVs and DERs, such as smart panels and solar, can support the grid and reduce costs. It aims to gain acceptance from utilities and communities for smart charge management and grid edge innovations. It also seeks to enhance grid resilience against growing loads, extreme weather, and cyber threats using grid edge technologies.
Projects should collect data and use grid-edge measures to support decarbonization, resilience, and grid upgrades.​

Projects should provide grid and customer benefits, enhance resilience, and ensure replicability across communities.

The Community Change Grants will support comprehensive community and place-based approaches to redressing environmental and climate injustices for communities facing legacy pollution, climate change, and persistent disinvestment.
Partnership with a CBO (Community Based Organization) is required.​

Track I projects need to boost climate resilience, reduce pollution, improve health, and strengthen communities through climate action and engagement.​
​
Track II projects need to empower disadvantaged communities to influence government decisions on environmental and climate issues through participation and partnerships.

ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION AGENCY

Diesel Emissions Reduction Act (DERA) Tribal and Territory Grants
DEADLINE:

Eligible activities include the retrofit or replacement of existing diesel engines, vehicles, and equipment with the EPA and California Air Resources Board (CARB) certified engine configurations and verified retrofit and idle reduction technologies.
DERA grants prioritize projects maximizing public health benefits, cost-effectiveness, serving high-density or poor air quality areas to reduce emissions.

Projects should address climate injustices by engaging disadvantaged communities in decision-making.
​
Funding favors projects that continue emissions reduction efforts post-grant and include robust workforce training and protection plans.

STATE AND COMMUNITY ENERGY PROGRAMS
Tribal Home Electrification & Appliances Rebate Program
DEADLINE:
Rolling until May 2025
$218.25 million in non-competitive formula allocations to Indian Tribes and Alaska Native Corporations to develop, implement, and subsidize residential energy efficiency, electrification, and appliance upgrade projects.
While funding is non-competitive, Tribes must apply to DOE for a grant before receiving funds.

Tribes can choose to form a Tribal consortium, in which multiple Tribes submit a single application to run a joint program.
​
Tribes can tailor their rebates of eligible technologies for local needs, such as only using rebates for wiring of non-electrified Tribal households or upgrades of Tribally managed housing.
