City of San Francisco Waste Water to Energy Plant
Renewable

In downtown San Francisco, CEC provided a turnkey cogeneration solution to the City's waste water treatment facility. We completed all mechanical and structural work on the project, including gas engine installation and startup. The plant was commissioned in October 2001.
Not only does this power plant put free digester gas to work to create electricity for the City, but its waste heat is captured to be used by the waste water treatment facility to assist in breaking down the waste materials. This combined heat and power system significantly reduces the amount of natural gas required for this process.
Ultimately, this project provides the citizens of San Francisco with cheaper power and cleaner air thanks to our team's ingenuity and efforts.
