Mason County PUD
Distributed

Wartsila North America contracted CEC to engineer, construct, and provide balance of plant equipment for a 5.6 MW fast track power plant project in Mason County, Washington. The Bonneville Power Administration mandated that the County reduce demand by 10%. 119 days after signing, commercial operation of this plant was achieved.
A pair of Wartsila 220SG natural gas-fired engines producing 2,800 kW each, with a heat rate of 9,165 btu/kWh HHV, were delivered from Mulhouse France in December 2001 to a waiting pad and shell building. 45 days after delivery, both units were operating in advance of the required deadline.
This plant was engineered to exceed the most stringent air quality restrictions. Emissions controls were mandated at 7ppm NOx and 5ppm was delivered with a closed loop Steuler selective catalytic reduction system. Sound attenuation of 55 dBa at 300’ was required and 52 dBa was delivered via inlet and exhaust fan baffling.
Our team of engineers, permit specialists, and construction management and staff built a power plant that exceeded all of the customer's goals, under pressing deadlines and severe heat. We delivered this project ahead of time and under budget.
