COASTAL, REMOTE, AND ISLAND TRIBAL ENTITIES ARE ELIGIBLE TO APPLY FOR TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE

TYPE OF PROGRAM

The Energy Technology Innovation Partnership Project (ETIPP) provides technical assistance to help remote, island, coastal, and Tribal communities improve energy resilience, reliability, affordability, and security. ETIPP offers two distinct technical support tracks: Strategic Energy Planning and Deep Dive technical assistance.


FUNDING DETAILS:

  • Award range: Up to $20,000 - $50,000 depending on the selected track:

    o Strategic Energy Planning: Up to $20,000 with anticipated project support of 4 – 8 months

    o Deep Dive Technical Assistance: Up to $50,000 with anticipated project support of 12 – 24 months


WHAT CAN YOU USE IT FOR?

  • Strategic energy planning and development of community energy goals

  • High-level energy assessments and baseline analysis

  • Community energy action planning

  • Feasibility and impact analysis of local energy technologies

  • Assessment of innovative energy system improvements

  • Energy policy and decision-making guidance

  • Detailed technical analysis of a specific energy project


IMPORTANT LIMITATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:

  • Applicants must meet at least one of these criteria:

    o Located on an island

    o Located in Alaska

    o Within 50 miles of an ocean, seacoast, or Great Lakes coastline

    o Population of fewer than 50,000

    o Federally recognized Tribe

  • Applicants must consult with an ETIPP Regional Partner before applying

  • At least two Stakeholder Support Forms from organizations separate from the applicant are required

  • A letter of support from the community’s servicing power utility is required

  • Only one application per applicant is accepted per application cycle

  • Deep Dive applicants must have a current energy plan developed within the last five years or a specific energy project appropriate for ETIPP

  • ETIPP cannot be used to purchase or install equipment, for grant writing, or for advocacy support
