WHAT IS IT?

A California state incentive program that funds Level 2 electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure through the California Energy Commission’s (CEC) Clean Transportation Program.

WHO MANAGES IT?

California Energy Commission


WHAT CAN YOU USE IT FOR?

  • Purchase and installation of Level 2 EV charging stations (hardware and software)

  • Electrical upgrades and panel modifications needed to support charger functionality

  • Construction and trenching to connect chargers to the power supply

  • Networking and data systems to enable charger management and public access

  • Project design, permitting, and utility interconnection costs

  • Signage and accessibility improvements related to charger installation


APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS

  • Applicant must be the property owner, lessee, or authorized representative and must directly incur the project costs

  • Project site must be located within California and served by a participating electric utility


WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT?

  • Award Cap: ▪ Tier 1 Projects (Shovel Ready) up to $6,000 per Level 2 connector, maximum total award $500,000 per project site ▪ Tier 2 Projects (Near-Ready) up to $5,000 per Level 2 connector, maximum total award $500,000 per project site

  • Tribal sites include bonus incentives and can increase the total award amount per connector

  • Cost Share: 25%

  • Project Timeline: 12 – 18 months
