TYPE OF PROGRAM:
The Tribal Energy Plan Grant helps Tribes and Tribal organizations develop comprehensive energy plans that establish sustainable renewable energy infrastructure, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, lower energy costs, and promote workforce development for long-term energy sovereignty and resilience.
TRIBES ARE ELIGIBLE TO APPLY FOR UP TO $50,000

Invite to Apply Notification: August 11, 2025
Grant Award/Denial Notifications:
By September 15, 2025 (Applications remain open on a rolling basis until funding is fully subscribed)
WHO MANAGES IT?
The Tribal Energy Plan Grant is funded by the Tribal Solar Accelerator Fund, managed by Tribal Energy Alternatives.
WHAT CAN YOU USE IT FOR?
Develop Tribal Energy Plans Compensate Planning Team Time
Contract Consultants or Experts • Cover Public Meetings & Community Input
Incorporate Renewables (Solar, Wind, Biomass, Geothermal, etc.)
Prioritize Initiatives for Energy Savings & Co-Benefits • Build Capacity for Energy Leadership & Sovereignty
APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS:
Must be a federally recognized Tribal government (lower 48 states or Alaska) or Tribal-led non-profit with direct community ties
Funds available only for energy planning, including renewables, workforce development, or related training
Must secure a letter of support from Tribal council
Must focus on building renewable energy infrastructure
Must include clear plan of action, measurable goals, feasible budget, and invested parties
Must engage broad Tribal community participation
